Thankfully, conditions have improved for the modern day seafarer but the 20 crew of the Turkish-owned 82,900dwt bulker the Yasa Neslihan held hostage by the hijacking of their vessel in the Gulf of Aden on Wednesday and the 180 other seafarers still held hostage on board 10 hijacked ships at the whim and mercy of Somali-based pirates, may be forgiven for not completely sharing that view.
