The associations of freight forwarders, customs officers and
shipping agents of the port of La Spezia have expressed some
perplexity regarding an amendment proposed by the Member
Northern League member Andrea Barabotti, as part of the decree-law
Infrastructure, which proposes the transfer of the port of Marina di
Carrara from the jurisdiction of the Port System Authority
of the Eastern Ligurian Sea to that of the System Authority
Port of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea which includes the ports of
Livorno, Piombino and the Island of Elba.
In a note signed by the presidents of the three associations,
Alessandro Laghezza, Sergio Landolfi and Andrea Fontana, it is highlighted
that, "over the years, the port system has worked intensively
to build administrative, economic and
association between ports, creating a unique model in Italy that
it enhances local peculiarities as elements of strength.
This approach has generated important economic benefits for the
ports and surrounding areas, promoting sustainable development
tenable. The associations, in compliance with the decisions that
will be taken, hope to be considered for progress
made so far".
