  • CP reprend les 50% de TMM dans Americana Ships
    Il aura fallu attendre un peu plus d'un an, avant que CP Ships se distingue à nouveau par une acquisition importante, à savoir la participation de 50% que détient Transportacion Maritima Mexicana SA de CV (TMM) dans la joint-venture Americana Ships, constituée en janvier 1999. La dernière acquisition du groupe CP remonte à octobre 98 et portait sur l'armement Australia New Zealand Direct Line (ANZDL). Comme il se doit, la transaction doit encore faire l'objet de l'approbation des autorités de tutelle. Cette nouvelle ne surprendra guère étant donné la situation financière particulièrement difficile dans laquelle se trouve ce groupe mexicain qui, par ailleurs, vient de vendre à Koninklijke Vopak les 51% qu'il détenait dans Van Ommeren-TMM Terminals au Mexique. Tout semble indiquer que ledit groupe mexicain cherche à réduire son endettement ... il lui faut respecter des échéances survenant en octobre 2000... et à se concentrer sur ses activités intermodales.
  • L'UIRR présente la première phase du projet CESAR
    Après trois années de recherche, le projet CESAR (Co-operative European System for Advanced Information Redistribution) de l'UIRR est arrivé en phase de tests réels avec les trois sociétés participantes, Cemat, Hupac et Kombiverkehr. Ces résultats ont été récemment présentés à Bruxelles. Trois autres sociétés de transport rail/route, Novatrans, Hungarokombi et Swe-Kombi, participent depuis peu au projet. Et la société belge TRW ne tardera pas non plus.
  • "Des incitants fiscaux pour les moteurs Euro 3? Pourquoi pas!"
    Dans notre deuxième partie de l'interview avec la ministre Isabelle Durant, nous abordons les problèmes de la mobilité et de la pollution. Il en ressort qu'elle n'est pas opposée à mener des expériences avec des véhicules plus grands afin de réduire le nombre de camions pour un même tonnage - sous certaines conditions et sur certains trajets en tout cas - et qu'elle est disposée à étudier d'éventuels incitants fiscaux pour l'utilisation de moteurs Euro 3 avant la date d'entrée en vigueur. Elle place toutefois la balle dans le camp des transporteurs, à qui elle demande de faire des propositions.
  • Gand: le Ringvaart doit être dragué d'urgence
    Sur certaines parties du Ringvaart autour de Gand, le tirant d'eau autorisé a dû être limité à 2,70 mètres au lieu des 3 mètres habituels. En cause: les retards qu'ont enregistrés les travaux de dragage d'entretien. L'année prochaine, quelque 800 millions de BEF seraient nécessaires pour draguer et déverser un volume prioritaire de 600.000 m3 de boues. Un effort financier de cet ordre n'est possible qu'au détriment d'un certain nombre d'autres projets. Il est dès lors probable que la construction d'une deuxième écluse à Evergem, qui devait commencer l'année prochaine, sera remise à une date ultérieure.
