- In the first half of this year the Panama Canal is
been crossed by a record number of ships

- In the second quarter alone, ship traffic was
increased by +8.4%

In the first half of this year the Panama Canal is
was crossed by the record number of 7,263 ships, with a
increase of +8.2% on the first six months of 2021 and with an increase of
88 naval units compared to the previous historical peak
established in the first half of 2018. The new record,
however, it is not such by counting maritime traffic in
terms of net tonnes PC/UMS (Panama Canal/Universal
Measurement System) of ships that in the first six months of 2022 are
amounted to 254.9 million tonnes PC/UMS, with a
growth of +0.6% on the first half of 2021 and a difference of
-10.2 million tons compared to the record set in the second
semester of last year.-
- In the first half of this year the goods on board the ships
transited in the Central American channel amounted to 143.4 million
of tons, with a decrease of -1.5% on the first half of the
2021 when the historical record of loads was recorded
embarked on ships in transit.

- In the first six months of 2022 the rights for the transit of ships
in the channel they yielded 1.49 billion dollars (+2.5%).

- In the second quarter of this year alone the waterway
Panamanian was crossed by a total of 3,582 ships
for 126.5 million tons PC/UMS, with increases respectively
by +8.4% and +1.0% on the period April-June 2021. Ships
transited transported 73.6 million tons of cargo
(-1,5%). In the second quarter of 2022 the value of the rights of
transit has been pairs to 744,7 million dollars (+2.4%).
