    Le groupe Panalpina a réalisé un bénéfice net de 62,3 mio. de CHF (+18,7%) et un bénéfice d'exploitation de 93,4 mio. de CHF (+16,6%) en 1998. "Ces chiffres apportent la preuve incontestable que notre stratégie, à savoir la concentration sur le transport intercontinental, porte ses fruits", a déclaré Gerard Fischer, le président du comité de direction lors d'une conférence de presse à Zurich. Dans ce contexte, 1998 a été marqué par la vente des activités terrestres en Autriche et la coopération avec SAir Group.
  • DFDS va intégrer sa division "transport & expédition" dans DanTransport
    Ainsi que nous l'avons brièvement rapporté dans notre édition d'hier, le groupe DFDS A/S, une division du holding Lauritzen, a conclu un accord avec un autre groupe danois, FLS, pour l'acquisition de l'ensemble des actions de DanTransport Holding. FLS se retire ainsi du transport routier, tandis que DFDS devient le numéro 2 scandinave, derrière Schenker-BTL. La transaction est soumise à l'approbation des autorités européennes.

    En 1998, la compagnie française Aéropostale a maintenu son activité tant passagers que fret quasiment au même niveau qu'en 1997. Avec un chiffre d'affaires de 1,09 milliard de FRF (166,17 millions d'EUR), soit '0,4% par rapport à 1997, elle a dégagé un résultat net de 0,8 million de FRF (0,12 million d'EUR), contre 1,1 million de FRF en 1997. En ce qui concerne 1999, l'ouverture vers l'international apparaît comme étant de plus en plus d'actualité.

  • State of the Art Container Terminal To Come To Amsterdam
    The Amsterdam Port Authority reportedly has been given final approval to build a new state-of-the-art container terminal. The terminal is said to require a total investment $182.5 million. It will have annual handling capacity of 950,000 TEU.
  • World Steel Output Down
    World steel output totaled 62.2 million tons in April, 4.3 percent down on the same month last year and 1.7 percent less than in March, the International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI) .
