A statement for the owner of both trains, Ferrocarriles Espa'oles de Via Estrecha, said that one of the trains had left a station out of its usual schedule and should not have been on the track at the time.     Il y a quelques jours à peine les commentateurs boursiers s’interrogeaient sur la signifaction de la reprise par une entité appelée Mars Shipping INC BVI de 10,04% des actions de l’armement Atlantic Container Line. Et de s’interroger sur l’identité, voire l’appartenance de ce repreneur. D’aucuns n’hésitaient pas à envisager un rapprochement avec le groupe Grimaldi (Naples), qui quelques jours plus tôt avait repris 33,95% des actions de cet armement. Une autre transaction est également intervenue entre-temps, menée par la Banque Orkla Enskilda Securities, qui s’accaparait de 5% des actions, or cette dernière avait paraît-il conseillé Grimaldi dans son opération. De là à conclure qu’Emanuele Grimaldi poursuivait un raid, il n’y avait plus qu’un pas que nous ne franchirons pas... étant donné que le nouvel actionnaire d’ACL, via Mars Shipping INC n’est autre que l’armement français CMA CGM.

    La première phase de l’approfondissement de l’Escaut s’est avérée un énorme succès pour le port d’Anvers, ce qui ressort de la croissance du trafic et de la part de marché dans le secteur containérisé. Mais sans une nouvelle perspective, la tendance s’inversera et le port sera confronté à un recul. Car la croissance est le résultat de la confiance des armements dans une poursuite des travaux d’approfondissement du chenal de navigation et dans le développement de la navigation indépendante des marées”, a affirmé hier l’échevin du port d’Anvers Leo Delwaide lors de la présentation d’une version actualisée de l’analyse coûts/bénéfices réalisée en 1996 pour la première phase (jusqu’à 11,6 mètres). Dans le cadre de cette actualisation, Policy Research Corporation a également étudié l’impact économique d’une poursuite de l’approfondissement jusqu’à 15 mètres de navigation indépendante des marées. Si ces travaux sont effectués, les bénéfices en termes de valeur ajoutée, de rentrées pour les pouvoirs publics et d’emploi seront multipliés par un facteur d’environ 2,5. De plus, une étude sur les évolutions morphologiques de l’Escaut démontre selon le professeur Jean-Jacques Peters que l’approfondissement pourrait contribuer à la préservation de l’environnement et à la sécurité, si une stratégie de dragage adéquate est utilisée. Delwaide a par ailleurs appelé les gouvernements flamand et belge à recourir aux procédures d’arbitrage international si les Pays-Bas tentaient de ralentir le dossier pour défendre leur intérêts économiques.
  • Les transporteurs routiers français poursuivent leurs actions malgré les concessions de Gayssot
    Hier midi, l’association française des transporteurs routiers FNTR annonçait qu’elle poursuivrait ses actions après concertation avec ses membres. Elle juge insuffisante les propositions du ministre du Transport Gayssot, à savoir une baisse de l’accise de 35 centimes par litre en 2000 et de 25 centimes/litre en 2001. A ce moment même, plusieurs villes françaises étaient confrontées à d’énormes embouteillages suite aux longues colonnes de taxis, d’autobus et d’ambulances qui paralysaient la circulation, tandis qu’à Paris, la Seine était bloquée par des bateliers mécontents. L’atmosphère se dégrade également dans les pays voisins. Même la Commission européenne estime que les prix du pétrole sont inacceptables. Elle a l’intention d’envoyer un signal politique à l’OPEP.

    Au vu des résultats en tonnes/kilomètres (t/k) à fin juin, donc sur l’ensemble du 1er semestre 2000, la SNCF (chemins de fer français) est en avance de cinq points sur ses objectifs fret. Au sein d’une progression globale à +9,53% par rapport à la même période de l’exercice 1999, le trafic combiné rail/route affiche pour sa part +11,18%.
