    Les résultats du premier semestre se traduisent pour le port d'Anvers par un record absolu avec 63,47 mio. de t, soit une progression de 14,1%. Le container est toujours fortement à la hausse avec 22 mio. de t (+19%) ou 1.998.845 TEU (+18,4%). Il est intéressant de souligner que les diverses avec 34,28 mio. de t enregistrent également une progression spectaculaire de 18,5% et que dans ce contexte le conventionnel/breakbulk avec 9,34 mio. de t affichait une augmentation de 23,3%. Si ce niveau de progression devait se maintenir au cours du deuxième semestre, le port scaldien pourrait envisager un score final de l'ordre de 130 mio. de t. Rappelons qu'en 1999 le trafic avait reculé de 119,78 mio. de t à 115, 65 mio. de t.

Aujourd'hui, le poste "gasoil" représente en effet couramment plus de 25% des coûts de production du transport routier de marchandises.

    La société tournaisienne Evadix (qui est l'ancienne division de logistique du groupe d'édition Casterman) et le groupe Alcopa (groupe Moorkens) ont créé sur l'ancien site de l'usine Renault à Vilvorde une joint-venture appelée Evadix E-land.
