- New step to develop the rail links of the
port of Gioia Tauro with markets
-
- CORAP has transferred to the Region the ownership of the
railway junction that connects the station of Rosarno to that of
St. Ferdinand
-
The President of the Port System Authority of the Seas
Southern Tyrrhenian and Ionian Sea, Andrea Agostinelli, expressed great
satisfaction with the expected decision of the Regional Consortium for the
Development of Productive Activities (CORAP), consortium of
Calabria Region of which in recent weeks the regional body
decided on the compulsory administrative liquidation, to transfer to the
calabria region itself owns the railway link
which connects the station of Rosarno to that of San Ferdinando and
then of the bundle of tracks that connects the railway gateway of the
port of Gioia Tauro to the national network. Agostinelli highlighted
whereas this is a long-awaited administrative act, of which so much
it has been discussed in the past, because it is necessary so that
the Calabria Region may, in turn, transfer ownership
to Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), the infrastructure management body
national railway.-
- Agostinelli explained that once the step is completed, through
an agreement signed by the Calabria Region and the Authority of
Port System that will take place in days, RFI will thus be able to
plan and start the maintenance works of the section
railway port, which were financed with the funds of the
National Recovery and Resilience Plan in order to ensure its
full development, part of an overall vision of growth
intermodal port of Gioia Tauro.
-
- The President of the AdSP also pointed out that this
Transfer comes at a propitious time for the gateway
railway that sees its operator increase the runs of trains, in
arrival and departure from Gioia Tauro and heading to the intermodal hubs
of Padua, Nola, Bari and Bologna, through a planning of
about 30 weekly trips, while at the same time also the
terminalista Automar has decided to plan the renovation
of the railway auction that crosses the port quay in its
concession, functional to a greater increase in the traffic of the
cars to and from Gioia Tauro.
-
- "For some time - recalled Agostinelli - we have been waiting for this
decision that now allows us to program decisively
the further growth of our port, to be finally framed in
a perspective of connecting traffic from the sea to the hinterland,
complementary to transhipment. This is a strategic element
which will have a significant impact on the long-awaited
development of intermodality in the port area and
back port of Gioia Tauro. At the same time - he concluded
Agostinelli - I turn to the extraordinary commissioner of CORAP,
Sergio Riitano, so that he gives us the management of some
areas within the port, of which it is the owner, in such a way
to be able to start lighting and maintenance activities
structural necessary to ensure the use of the entire area
port in greater safety".
