- Last month the traffic of goods in seaports
Chinese decreased by -1.9%

- The only volume of cargo traded abroad is
decreased by -1.6%

Last month, Chinese ports handled a total of
1.35 billion tons of goods, with a decrease of -2.8%
on May 2021 which represents the third negative percentage data
consecutive. Seaports alone handled 862.9 million
of tons of cargoes (-1.9%) and the inland ports 483.2 million
tons (-4.4%). Only international freight traffic
enlivened in May 2022 by Chinese ports amounted to
395.2 million tons (-1.8%), of which 351.2 million tons
tons passed through seaports (-1.6%) and 44.0
million tons through inland ports (-3.4%).-
- Last month the largest volume of traffic is
was handled by the port of Ningbo-Zhousan with 115.4 million
tons (+3.9%), of which 51.4 million tons of goods
international (+7.3%), followed by the ports of Tangshan with 61.0
million tons (+0.1%) of which 20,8 million tons of
international goods (+1.8%), Qingdao with 57.8 million tons
(+3.2%) of which 39.6 million tons of international cargoes
(+1.2%), Guangzhou with 52.5 million tons (-2.3%) of which
13.7 million tons of international goods (+3.8%), Tianjin
with 50,3 million tons (+6.1%) of which 27,0 million of
tons of international goods (+9.7%), Rizhao with 47.3 million
of tons (+6.5%) of which 26,1 million tons of goods
international (-10.0%) and Shanghai with 46.8 million tons
(-21.8%) of which 27.5 million tons of international cargoes
(-18,0%). With regard to the port of Shanghai, particularly
hit by the effects of the recent lockdown to contain the new
Covid-19 pandemic wave, the double-digit reduction in volume
of traffic in May 2022 follows the equally accentuated one of the
previous month which showed a decrease of -27.1% of the overall figure
and -18.0% of international goods alone.

- Last month the only container traffic handled by the
Chinese ports has been pairs to 25,4 million teu (+4.3%), of
which 22,3 million teu enlivened by seaports (+3.8%) and
3.2 million teu from the inland ports (+8.2%). The most relevant
volumes of containerized traffic were handled by ports
of Shanghai with 3.4 million teu (-10.3%), Ningbo-Zhoushan with 3.4
million teu (+18.7%), Shenzhen with 2.7 million teu (+14.5%),
Qingdao with 2.2 million teu (+10.5%), Tianjin with 2.0 million teu
teu (+0.5%), Guangzhou with 2.0 million teu (-0.5%) and Xiamen with
1.0 million teu (-1.9%).

- In the first five months of this year the global traffic of the
goods handled by Chinese ports was 6.25 billion
of tons, with a decrease of -0.5% on the corresponding
period of 2021, of which 4.10 billion tons handled by
seaports (+0.1%) included 1,69 billion tons of goods
international (-2.8%) and 2.15 billion tons from ports
domestic (-1.6%) included 190.5 million tons of goods
international (-10.9%).

- In the period January-May 2022 the most consistent
volumes of goods were handled from the ports of Ningbo-Zhousan
with 529,7 million tons (+4.0%) included 192,8 million
tons of international cargoes (+1.1%), Tangshan with 297.8
million tons (+1.2%) included 82.1 million tons of
international goods (-12.4%), Qingdao with 270.3 million
tons (+3.3%) included 157,5 million tons of goods
international (+2.6%), Shanghai with 259.5 million tons
(-8.8%) included 132.7 million tons of cargoes
international (-1.0%), Guangzhou with 250.2 million tons
(-2.9%) included 47.00 million tons of international goods
(-7.3%), Rizhao with 231.9 million tons (+6.0%) included
107.6 million tons of international goods (-5.3%) and
Tianjin with 225,9 million tons (+2.5%) included 98,6 million
of tons of international goods (+1.8%).

- The container traffic sector alone closed the first
five months of 2022 with a total of 116.5 million teu (+2.3%),
of which 102.9 million teu in the seaports (+2.3%) and 13.6
million teu in inland ports (+2.1%). The greatest activity
was registered at the port of Shanghai with 18.7 million
teu (-0.5%) followed by Ningbo-Zhoushan with 14.3 million teu
(+8.2%), Shenzhen with 11.8 million teu (-1.1%), Qingdao with 10.3
million teu (+7.9%), Guangzhou with 9.5 million teu (-1.4%),
Tianjin with 8.5 million teu (+2.3%) and Xiamen with 4.9 million teu
teu (+0.8%).
