- In the first seven months of 2022 traffic grew

In July 2022 the Suez Canal marked its new
historical record of ship traffic with 2,103 ships transited in the month
in the Egyptian waterway, with an exceptional increase of +25.9%
on July 2021 when maritime traffic had recorded a
substantial increase of +17.3% on July 2020. The previous peak
historical monthly had been marked in the now distant August 2008 with
1,993 ships transited.-
