- A MIMS report confirms the growth in traffic
ferries in the second quarter of 2022
-
- It is higher than the pre-pandemic level. In recovery the
cruises, although still lower than 2019 data
-
The second Report of the Observatory on trends in
mobility of passengers and cargo, which is processed
from the Observatory on mobility trends during
the Covid-19 health emergency prepared by the Structure
Mission Technique of the Ministry of Infrastructure and
Sustainable Mobility, highlights a clear recovery in
application for all modes of transport during the
second quarter of 2022 compared to the same period last year
year, with increases for the various sectors between +3% for the
air traffic of goods and +573% for cruise services.-
- Very strong positive variations are recorded for the High Speed
(+212%) and for air passenger transport (+447%). Growing
local public transport is also the case, with an increase in
users equal to +18%, and the road haulage of goods (+7%).
The latter, together with air freight transport and traffic
of ferries, exceeds 2019 levels. Scraps of less than +10%
compared to the pre-pandemic values are recorded, however, for the
road transport with light vehicles, for the demand for services
intercity rail and for transport passenger flows
local public.
-
- In particular, comparing the data for the second quarter of 2022
with those pre-Covid (same period of 2019), the Report
quarterly, published today and based on the data made available
by the national multimodal operators, by the Directorates-General of the
MIMS and those contained in the open source databases of the main
national and international mobility players, notes that
road traffic of heavy-duty vehicles accelerates
of displacements, now stably higher than those of 2019
(+3% on the motorway network and +6% on the ANAS network). For traffic
road and rail passenger level the level of the second
quarter is still lower than that of 2019 (with values
between -3% and -21% respectively), but for both
flows there is a clear improvement compared to the situation
recorded in the first quarter of 2022. In fact, the road sector
recovers four percentage points on the ANAS network and five on the
motorway network, while the railway network shows an increase
by 21 and 18 percentage points for Alta services respectively
Speed and Intercity. In local public transport the
demand for passenger mobility in the second quarter of 2022
is still about -8% lower (almost -20% in the single
regional rail transport) compared to the same period as
2019, but even in this case there is a clear recovery in comparison
as recorded in the first quarter of 2022 (+17 percentage points).
-
- In the two-month period April-May of this year, the air transport of
passengers shows an increase of +447% compared to the same period
of 2021, even if the flows are still lower by -13% to
pre-pandemic ones. In parallel, air freight transport
recorded an increase of +2% compared to the corresponding period of
2019 and an increase of +3% compared to the same two months of 2021.
-
- As regards maritime traffic on ferries, in the
period April-May 2022 there is an increase of +7% compared to the
pre-pandemic data and an increase of +84% compared to the same period
of 2021. For cruises, traffic in the period April-May
2022 marks an increase of +573% compared to the same two-month period
of the previous year, although it still appears to be -59% lower
compared to that of 2019.
